It's at the printers!

Atomic Highway has now gone to press!

Press Release!

*cough* Is this thing on?

Radioactive Ape Designs is terrified to announce its ‘partnership’ with Jerry D. Grayson, grand tyrant of Khepera Publishing (Hellas: Worlds of Sun and Stone), following Grayson’s recent escape from a maximum security facility in Tunisia. What does this mean for you, the gaming public, and frankly, why should you care? Because Khepera Publishing, as part of Jerry’s latest bid for world domination, are publishing R.A.D.’s #1-selling Atomic Highway - Post Apocalyptic Roleplaying RPG as a softcover book under the Khepera banner!

Colin Chapman, high mucky-muck of R.A.D. has this to say: “Frankly, Jerry frightens me! It’s those crazy eyes of his! When he said he’d like to ‘help’ publish and print Atomic Highway and get it into stores early in the New Year, I had no choice but to agree; at least now I won’t be first against the wall!”

Jerry D. Grayson, said: “Muahahahah!”

Look for Atomic Highway in stores early in 2010, and let your retailer know you want a copy. Don't disappoint Jerry... please?

Atomic Highway is #1!

I can't quite believe it, but Atomic Highway is now #1 in the Small Press Top 100, and #13 on the overall Top 100 at DriveThruRPG! It's also #3 overall on RPGNow!

Edit: It's climbed!

It's done!

Well, after much toil, Atomic Highway goes to print next week, and will be available in stores as soon as it's printed and shipped! More news on that front as elements such as shipping dates become clearer.

In other Atomic Highway news, the .pdf will go up on sale on Drivethrurpg as soon as they set my account up, which should hopefully be any day now. The R.A.D. website already has the character and vehicle/mount sheets up for download, and the Atomic Highway Homebrewer's Guide pdf will soon be up for download too; not rules or regulations or anything, but rather a 2-page pdf explaining how to mechanically create and balance various elements of the game for your own use. :) This will be followed up in short order with a pdf of extra materials (a few more vehicles and weapons) as a freebie download as well.

I'll update the thread as new comes in. Stay tuned!

Layout is all but finished now. Just a few tweaks to do, the index to lay out, and a final once over and it'll be ready. :)

Progress Update!

All of the art is in, the book is now 50% laid out, the Index is nearly ready (just need to add the appropriate page numbers to the entries as the second half of the layout continues), and I've been recording all the numbers to replace any "page XX" references as the book is laid out. Closer, ever closer. :)

R.A.D. Goings-On

Feedback from playtesters has been awesome. Far better than I actually anticipated even, which was all kinds of cool.

Well, the Atomic Highway website is now well and truly getting up and running, including downloads of the character sheet and vehicle sheet, a brief overview of the V6 Engine system, and links to the forums, this blog, and the R.A.D. Zazzle merchandise page. I've just ordered a bunch of R.A.D. badges and keychains for gifts, as well as a R.A.D. mug for myself, so I'm curious to see what the quality is like.

The forum is starting to pick up a little speed now as well, with discussion about other possible V6 Engine rpgs after Atomic Highway. Some great ideas there being shared by forumites.

All-in-all, things are looking pretty damned positive.

Monday 10 August 2009

As of Saturday August 8th, ATOMIC HIGHWAY is written! In just over two months of my spare time, a 50,000 word rpg with its own unique system has been conceived, designed, and written.

Its rumbling V8 is fitted with a supercharger the top of which thrusts up from the hood next to the long black barrel of a fixed Browning machine gun. The front of the car is fitted with a trio of heavily studded steel bull bars, while an oil slick dispenser is fitted beneath the trunk at the rear of the car, ready to ruin any pursuer’s day.
